SLOW HOLLOWS: "SELLING FLOWERS"

Slow Hollows’ “Selling Flowers” perfectly embodies the strange melancholy of late summer. The third single to be released prior their upcoming album, Actors, “Selling Flowers” stays true to the band’s recent shift in sound; abandoning jangly guitar and heavier post-punk energy for a more shimmery, dreamy sound. It’s poetic in lyrics and almost theatrical in nature, with its lifting buildup and layered-in synth and brass. Singer Austin Feinstein lends ethereal vocals to melancholy lyrics that compliment the song’s sound perfectly, reminiscent of transition, lyrically, an atmospheric letdown, and musically, lifting.

The band’s third full length, and their first incorporating the change in lineup and in sound, is rumored to be released mid-November. In the meantime, be sure to catch Slow Hollows on tour this fall.
