MOMMA'S BOY: "LOVE THAT WAY"
Momma’s Boy, made up of Shaun Crowley, Quinn Hernandez, Peter Beatty, and Jared Bajkowski, emerge from the Kansas City music scene in strides. After releasing a six track EP in early 2017, Momma’s Boy trickled out singles before and after 2018, awaiting a new album. In March of the new year, they dropped Dead Summer Singles Series. Finally, they have a new song, “Love That Way,” self recorded in the attic where they attend practice. The DIY sound is different from past things they’ve released. A grunge-rock, surf-rock crossover that vibes and grooves and brings back the nostalgic feeling of adolescence. “Love That Way” opens with gentle acoustic and subdued percussion that guides you to some dreamy vocals, and eventually a lo-fi keyboard solo. It’s all you could possibly need in a single. The new sound that Momma’s Boy has demonstrated in “Love That Way” hopefully leads to a new and exciting route of underground rock and roll.
