FASCINATIONS GRAND CHORUS
The glory of The Ronnettes hasn’t been present in any current music until I listened to the Fascinations Grand Chorus. Recently, the band released a new album, Actor/Actress, a short, but quality, collection filled with doo-wop stocked beats, bouncy lyrics and tonnssss of tambourine (in the best way possible). Their vintage sound is both refreshing and loyal to a time of glam dance floors and fab women in the spotlight, so naturally, I fell in love.
Fascinations Grand Chorus call themselves a pop audio experiment, and they totally succeed by providing us with super groovy music, well into the 21st century. Their girl-powered vocals effortlessly cut through their intricate 60s inspired sound. Enveloping Motown, foundational rock n roll, and a touch of disco, Fascinations’ sound is balanced, cutting edge and totally jam worthy. Their Bandcamp page, album art and entire aesthetic comes together in a cohesive vibe that makes us nostalgic for a time we never lived through (but totally wish we did). Their fashion rivals the diva power Cher, their energetic musicality puts Diana Ross’s songs to the test, and their charm has the same sing-along vibes of the ABBA girls. Altogether it’s a total win.
Though their album only has a handful of songs, they’re worthy of listening to on a loop so that a four track album becomes an infinite music experience. I’m super stoked about what’s to come from Fascinations’ vintage-ly creative minds. Wear your favorite mustard turtleneck and bell bottoms and get totally wrapped up in the charming nostalgia of this music.
